Hi all,

I know its been a long time since I have been at the club and if some of you don’t know me, my name is Lucie Simpson, and I have swam at Flixton Swim Team since I was 7 years old.

I am currently in my final year of my degree and I am undertaking a dissertation to complete my course. The title of the research project is:

An investigation into the dietary intake of adolescent swimmers in the UK.

This project is where I will be asking swimmers, aged 11-18 years old, to complete a 4 day food diary. All swimmers must be in either each of the development squads or the competition squad as this is the skill level I need to compare results.

If your child fits in with these specifications and they would be willing to take part, then I have attached an information sheet below that explains more about the study and what it involves.

My dissertation is due at the start of March and therefore you must be able to ensure you can get these food diaries back to me by the 12th March, so I can analyse the results. This would be much appreciated.

Once you have read the information sheet and you and your child wish to take part, then please email me on l.simpson@2017.ljmu.ac.uk<mailto:l.simpson@2017.ljmu.ac.uk> where I will send you over consent forms to sign and a food diary template to fill in. You can either print off both forms and once completed return to my brother James Simpson (in completion squad), or fill them out electronically and email them back to me. There are 2 consent forms to fill out, one is for children aged 11-15 and one is for children aged between 16-18, please ensure you fill out the correct form.

If you require any further information before participating, then please do not hesitate to get in touch on the email above. It would be much appreciated if I can get as many of you to participate in this study as possible so that I have a big enough sample size to analyse the results. I appreciate this is very short notice and some of you may be too busy to participate, but if you do have spare time then please consider taking part.

Thank you,

Lucie Simpson.
